MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 18, 2020 10:08 AM
From: Representative David R. Millard
To: All House members
Subject: Prorating Liquor Licenses

Due to the COVID-19 crisis and the Governor’s decision to shut down restaurants, taverns and social clubs for on-premise consumption, these entities have been ravaged and some, if not many will not be opening their doors again when this crisis runs its course.

To make matters even worse, these crucial businesses still have to pay their license renewal fees and surcharges, even though in some cases they may not have the capital to afford these fees and surcharges.

Therefore, I will be introducing legislation that will prorate all classes of liquor licenses since the start of the shutdown so that when the renewal notices come each licensee pays according to the months allowed to be open for business.

In addition, my legislation will extend the due period accordingly for those entities receiving renewal reminders now.

Please join me in sponsoring this legislation.
