Subject: | COVID-19 Emergency Licensee Discount |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to allow for a one year increase in the discount licensees receive when they purchase liquor from the PLCB from the current 10 to 15%. The COVID 19 pandemic has had lasting damage on our local restaurants, bars and clubs. Our community bars and restaurants have been hit hard by the coronavirus shut-downs and are struggling to find new ways to meet consumer needs. When restaurants are once again permitted to open for customers, they will need to make changes to their business model, requiring new safety measures and likely limiting their on-premise footprint. These changes will not only cost money, but in turn, limit their profits. My legislation will increase the discount that licensees receive when they purchase from the PLCB Fine Wine and Good Spirits Stores from 10% to 15% for a period of one year. This 5% increase will allow our community bars, taverns and clubs the relief they need during these uncertain times. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation and join me in supporting our neighborhood bars and restaurants on their road to recovery. |
