Subject: COVID-19 Waivers - Auctioneers
 
I plan on introducing legislation to direct the Department of Community and Economic Development to issue a waiver to licensed auctioneers in Pennsylvania.
 
Auctioneers provide vital services to businesses, families, and the public across the Commonwealth.  Whether it is real estate, farm equipment, personal property, etc., auctioneers are there to help customers sell goods.  Like many other industries, the auction community received conflicting messages about what was allowable or disallowable under the Governor’s directives.  Some auctioneers were lucky enough to receive a waiver to operate, while others were denied.  Social distancing can be followed for auctions by limiting groups of registered buyers and providing creative ways of participating, while limiting contact.  It is for these reasons why I am introducing this legislation.
