MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 29, 2020 03:45 PM
From: Representative Morgan Cephas
To: All House members
Subject: Urging Congress to Pass the All Dependents Count Act

Because of the current unprecedented crisis, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to give millions of Americans much needed cash assistance: up to $1,200 per adult and $500 per dependent. However, this legislation leaves out children older than 16, college students, and disabled dependents who, just like other Pennsylvanians, are facing job loss and financial instability.

For this reason, I am introducing a resolution to urge Congress to pass the All Dependent Children Count Act (H.R. 6420). This legislation would build upon the CARES Act by expanding the definition of a dependent to include children ages 17 and 18, students 24 and younger, and all disabled dependents so their families can receive $500 to pay for basic needs.

As this pandemic radically impacts all of our lives, we have to make it a priority to ensure that no one is left behind. Please join me—and the 147 bipartisan members of Congress cosponsoring H.R. 6420—in cosponsoring this resolution and standing with working families across this nation.

Introduced as HR860
