MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 24, 2020 11:39 AM
From: Representative Liz Hanbidge
To: All House members
Subject: Recognizing 2020 as Frontline Workers Appreciation Year

It has become increasingly clear that 2020 will be defined by how we as a Commonwealth respond to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It makes me proud as a Pennsylvanian to see that our frontline and essential workers have risen to the occasion, exemplified by their courage and determination to overcome the greatest public health crisis in living memory.

Frontline workers have continued to perform their duties, often with limited protective gear, through long hours, daunting stressors, and at great risk to their health and the health of their families, so that the communities of this great Commonwealth can continue to function from the comfort and safety of our homes. It is through their sacrifices that we as a state can have the confidence to see through these trying times. It is only right that we take a moment to show our appreciation for their efforts and bravery.

I believe that given the scale and scope of this historic challenge, it is fitting we designate 2020 as “Frontline Workers Appreciation Year,” in respect of these great Pennsylvanians. Please join me in supporting this important resolution.
