| Subject: | Legislation Allowing Golf Courses to Reopen |
| The closure of nonessential businesses across Pennsylvania has been a significant burden on many local businesses. Golf courses are one of the many businesses that have seen the impacts of these closures. However, golf courses are one of the few businesses that could operate safely, provided the correct guidance. I plan to introduce a bill that would give health and safety guidance to golf courses in our Commonwealth. In order to open, golf courses would follow the social distancing guidelines already provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This bill will mandate that club houses remain closed, a no contact method of payment be made available, carts would be sanitized after each use with attention paid to the steering wheel and other parts, ONLY (1) golfer allowed per cart, walking with clubs is permitted, and all employees and golfers would be required to wear masks. Additionally, this bill will follow guidelines from the United States Golf Association (USGA), which recommends that a hole liner be used to prevent the ball from falling into the cup. Once the ball is near the hole, the hole would be finished, and players would move to the next hole. This would prevent the flag or pin from being touched. Thank you for your consideration.
