Subject: Recognizing March 26, 2020 as Bangladesh Day
 
Please join me in recognizing Bangladesh Day. March 26, 1971 is a day that will forever be etched into the minds of Bangladeshis everywhere. It was the day that East Pakistan announced their independence from West Pakistan and created the modern country of Bangladesh.
Many Pennsylvanians have ancestral roots in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Association of Pennsylvania, located in Lansdale, is a non-profit cultural organization that seeks to promote Bangladeshi social and cultural activities in Pennsylvania. One of their primary goals is to develop increased cooperation and understanding between similar cultural organizations.
It is important for us to recognize the contributions made by this community and to foster stronger relationships with our Bangladeshi brothers and sisters in this great state. Please consider supporting this resolution.
