Subject: | Recognizing April 2020 as “Counseling Awareness Month” |
Since 2002, the American Counseling Association has recognized each April as “Counseling Awareness Month.” Professional counseling offers individuals the capacity to overcome daily stressors and significant trauma, helping clients achieve mental health wellness and personal development through therapeutic means. Counseling benefits a diversity of people on a range of issues including depression, personal relationships, career choices, and life transitions. Professional counselors are rigorously trained, passionate, and committed individuals who work alongside a team of healthcare professionals to deliver on essential health needs. Everyday more than 665,000 counselors across the country are working in a variety of education, health, and professional settings to empower individuals to not only overcome obstacles but to thrive. It is my hope that you will join me in celebrating and advocating for the field, and the benefits it helps to bring to the citizens of this great Commonwealth, by recognizing this April as “Counseling Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. |
