Subject: Honoring the Life and Legacy of Barbara “B.” Smith
 
Barbara “B.” Smith has sadly passed away after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Western Pennsylvania on August 24, 1949, to a mother who was a part-time housekeeper and a father who was a steelworker, B. Smith attended modeling school in Pittsburgh and began her career as a model. She soon found additional success as a restaurateur, author, television host, and lifestyle icon. A beloved personality, B. Smith embodied the ideals of hard work and perseverance.

In 2013, B. Smith was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and in 2014, she went public with the diagnosis. Sadly, on February 22, 2020, B. Smith lost her fight with the disease, which affects over 5 million Americans.

I hope that you will join me in supporting this resolution to honor the life of Barbara “B.” Smith.
