House of Representatives
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 20, 2020 02:57 PM
From: Representative Michael J. Driscoll and Rep. Kevin J. Boyle, Rep. Marty Flynn, Rep. Tim Hennessey
To: All House members
Subject: Designating March 2020 as “Irish American Heritage Month”

The contributions of Irish Americans to both Pennsylvania and the nation are diverse and plentiful. They have accomplished countless feats in military service, academia, business, literature, science, and politics.

To recognize Irish Americans for their community’s historical service and contributions, Saint Patrick’s Day Parades are held across Pennsylvania. Some of the largest parade celebrations take place in Philadelphia and Scranton, where thousands join in for what is always a joyous community experience.

To celebrate the diversity, hard-work, and positive community impact Irish Americans bring to our state, all Pennsylvanians are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations across the state, which annually take place on March 17th. In addition, I ask that you join me in supporting this resolution designating March 2020 as “Irish American Heritage Month” and honor the contributions of Irish Americans in our state.
