Subject: | Recognizing “Men’s Health Week” |
In the United States, women continue to outlive men by an average of five years. Sadly, many of the leading causes of death for men, such as heart disease and cancer, are preventable or treatable if detected early. Additionally, a number of healthy behaviors recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), such as ceasing the use of tobacco, engaging in regular exercise, and managing stress, can further improve men’s health. In order to promote awareness of preventative health measures and to improve the health of men in Pennsylvania, we will be introducing a resolution designating the week of June 15 through 21, 2020, as “Men’s Health Week” in Pennsylvania. Please join me in supporting our fathers, husbands and sons in achieving better health by celebrating “Men’s Health Week” during the week leading up to Father’s Day. |
