| As legislators, one of our key responsibilities is ensuring the health, welfare and prosperity of Pennsylvania’s children. Providing a quality education is one way of ensuring today’s youth are tomorrow’s innovators, able to secure good jobs that support families and boost the economy through advances in all occupational areas. Promoting education has become even more crucial in this increasingly global economy; our children must be prepared to compete with others in the U.S., as well as on the global stage. It is always a good time to recognize the central role of education to the society and economy of both Pennsylvania and the U.S. That is why I am introducing a resolution to designate November 16 through 20, 2020, as American Education Week in Pennsylvania. American Education Week is an initiative of the National Education Association that aims to provide Americans with an opportunity to celebrate public education and honor the educators, support professionals, administrators and parents who play a key role in making sure each child receives the best education possible. Please join me in reaffirming Pennsylvania’s commitment to a thriving education system that prepares our children to grow into the leaders of the future. |
