Subject: Adding a “Women Veterans” designation to the PA Veterans Registry

The Pennsylvania Veterans Registry was established in 2017. This registry connects registered veterans, their families, and caregivers to the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs (DMVA) to access critical information, resources, and updates.

At this point in time, there is no designated area on the online registry for women veterans to acknowledge that they are interested in learning more information. The demographics of age and gender are not required upon the completion of the online form. Requiring these identifying features would provide the DMVA with more information to carefully track the veterans and connect them with more information. When signing up for the veterans registry online, female veterans will be able to choose the option “Women Veterans,” under the section that asks, “Would you like to know more about Benefits, Services or Programs pertaining to:” This option would provide women veterans the opportunity to access data about available programs and services exclusively for them.

By implementing this option, women veterans can be effectively connected with information related to their health, financial wellbeing, education opportunities, and upcoming events. Pennsylvania has almost 60,000 female veterans that would be better served by adding this feature to the information section and allowing them to add their name, gender and information in the registry.

I kindly ask for your support to add the “women veterans” designation to the Pennsylvania Veterans Registry.
