Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 7, 2020 10:05 AM
From: Representative Jordan A. Harris
To: All House members
Subject: Zeta Phi Beta's Centennial Celebration

Founded in 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., Zeta Phi Beta has continued its steady climb into the national spotlight with programs designed to demonstrate concern for the human condition both nationally and internationally.

The sorority boasts numerous collegiate and alumnae chapters within Pennsylvania, as well as more than 125,000 members in 800 chapters located around the world. Zeta Phi Beta was the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its operations in a national headquarters, first to charter a chapter in Africa, first to form auxiliary groups, and first to be constitutionally bound to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Zeta Phi Beta takes pride in its continued participation in transforming communities through volunteer services from members and its auxiliaries. Zeta chapters and auxiliaries have given countless hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities, and promote legislation for social and civic change.

For all these reasons and to honor Zeta Phi Beta for their tireless commitment to improving the lives of those they serve, please join me in commemorating their 100-year legacy of service by co-sponsoring this resolution.
