Subject: | Honoring the 25th Anniversary of the Jimmy Stewart Museum |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a Resolution honoring May 25th, 2020 as the 25th anniversary of The Jimmy Stewart Museum. The museum showcases the life of Indiana, Pennsylvania native, Mr. James “Jimmy” Maitland Stewart, highlighting his honorable military service, award-winning film career, and an all-around morally upstanding citizen. The museum is located within the heart of Downtown Indiana on the third floor of the Indiana Public Library. It serves as a tourist attraction, bringing in history, military, film, and holiday enthusiasts. Mr. Stewart personally selected mementos from some of his movies to display in the museum, such as a Winchester rifle and a propeller blade signed by the cast and crew of “Flight of the Phoenix”. There is also a room dedicated to the Stewart family, highlighting his childhood home just atop Vinegar Hill, his family business, the J.M Stewart & Company Hardware Store, and Jimmy’s Statue in front of the Indiana County Court House. Given the museum’s contribution as a tourism and historical asset to the community and region I represent, I would greatly appreciate your favorable consideration of this resolution and thank you for your support. |
