MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Halloween Safety Month – October 2019

Halloween is a great holiday for children and adults of all ages to enjoy. Leading up to the 31st, people have fun creating costumes, decorating houses, picking out candy to hand out, or otherwise preparing for the night’s festivities. However, part of the planning for Halloween should include certain safety precautions to prevent accidents.

Unfortunately, Halloween activities like pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating can be dangerous for children. Research has shown that significantly more pedestrians are killed in car accidents on Halloween. To remind everyone in Pennsylvania how important safety considerations are during preparation for Halloween, I am introducing a resolution to designate October 2019 as “Halloween Safety Month.”

It is essential that we stress the importance of Halloween safety to every parent, neighborhood association, and local government official in Pennsylvania. Please join me in making this Halloween as safe as possible by supporting this resolution.
