Subject:	Introduction of Legislation – Naming of Highway Bridge over Railroad on U.S. Routes 219 and 322 in village of Salem, Brady Township, Clearfield County as the LCPL Robert Clyde Gontero Bridge

In the near future, we intend to introduce legislation to name the highway bridge on U.S. Routes 219 and 322 over the railroad tracks in the village of Salem, Brady Township, Clearfield County as the LCPL Robert Clyde Gontero Bridge. Lance Corporal Gontero, or “Bobby” as he was known to his friends and family, was a resident of Brady Township and a 1965 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on August 6, 1968, and spent five months in Vietnam with the Third Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Division before making the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. He was killed in action by gunfire on June 26, 1969 while on a search and clear mission in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam. We offer this legislation with the support of several local veterans organizations and the Brady Township Supervisors. Please join us in cosponsoring this bill to recognize the profound service and sacrifice of LCPL Robert Clyde Gontero.
