MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 4, 2019 08:54 AM
From: Representative Donna Bullock
To: All House members
Subject: Designating September 29-October 5, 2019 as “Financial Planning Week”

As the cost of living keeps rising, a recent study has found that more Americans are stressed out over money and their financial security than they are over work or relationships. While there is no quick fix to ease this anxiety, financial planning services aim to reduce that stress by working to establish short and long-term financial goals that will help people make responsible financial decisions.

To advocate the values of financial stability and responsibility for Pennsylvanians, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing “Financial Planning Week” in Pennsylvania. The Financial Planning Association, a nation-wide network of advocates and public educators that provide financial planning and counseling services to those in need, are lead sponsors for “Financial Planning Week” events. These events cover key issues such as the benefits of financial planning and they help promote financial literacy and education.

Many people believe that financial planning services are a luxury, but they are more affordable and more accessible than ever. As a duty to our citizens, we must work to encourage responsible financial planning practices. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to recognize the week of September 29 through October 5, 2019, as “Financial Planning Week” in Pennsylvania.
