Subject: | Honoring the Life of Lee Iacocca |
I will soon be introducing a resolution to honor the extraordinary life of a Pennsylvania native and inspiring role model, Lee Iacocca. Mr. Iacocca passed on July 2, 2019. Lee Iacocca was born to Italian immigrant parents in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1924. After finishing undergraduate studies at Lehigh University, and a master’s degree at Princeton, Iacocca went to work for the Ford Motor Company in Chester. This was the start of an automotive industry career that would span the next forty years, including a lead role in the design of the Ford Mustang, pioneering the concept of the minivan, and rescuing Chrysler from the brink of financial ruin. Iacocca would also play an integral part in the centennial restoration of the Statue of Liberty and become a bestselling author. In his later years, he established the Iacocca Family Foundation, which funds research seeking a cure for diabetes. Please join me in celebrating the life of a native son, Lee Iacocca. |
