Subject: Legislation Regarding Lemonade Stands
 
Lemonade stands are part of our national fabric. The homemade stand with a hand-painted sign. The shining face handing out cool beverages on a hot day.

Unfortunately, in Pennsylvania, our youth and others are prohibited from setting up a lemonade stand on their front yard without obtaining a permit to do so from the county in which they live. This seems like government overreach to me.

To address this issue, I will be introducing legislation to prohibit the regulation of lemonade stands run by children under the age of 18 on private property in the Commonwealth. Our children should be encouraged to operate lemonade stands to help foster an understanding of business principles and to add to a sense of community that we too often seem to be losing.
