Subject: Resolution Designating the Week of June 16-22, 2019 as "Trench Safety Stand Down Week" in PA
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of June 16-22, 2019 as "Trench Safety Stand Down Week" in Pennsylvania.

Trenching and excavation work are hazardous construction operations performed by many Pennsylvanian's ever day. These employees require continuous access to education and training in identifying hazards associated with this type of employment.

Despite increased training and hazard identification, recent national statistics show an increase in trench injuries and deaths.

During "Trench Stand Down Week" and throughout the year, organizations and individuals in Pennsylvania are encouraged to focus on education and training in trenching and excavating hazard awareness, in order to improve the health, safety and welfare of construction workers and all residents of the Commonwealth.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution that recognizes the hard work of those individuals who literally "work in the trenches."
