Subject: | New License Plate Legislation |
In the near future, I plan to introduce three separate bills to make the choices of license plates more attractive and give PennDOT more revenue from the sales of these plates. Bill #1: Heritage Plates. My legislation would amend Chapter 13 of the Vehicle Code, adding a limited edition 1950’s with a blue background inside a gold outline of the Commonwealth and a 1960’s plate with the opposite colors for motorists to choose from. See attachment with samples. The plates will have the look and feel of the plates illustrated, however they will be updated. Pennsylvania will be spelled out instead of the abbreviated “Penna” and there won’t be a built-in expiration date as was the practice in the 1950’s. The plates will be available for purchase for a limited 5 year period and will cost $50 in addition to the registration fees. They can be personalized for an additional $100. |
