Subject: | Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month-May 15-June15, 2019 |
I plan on reintroducing a resolution designating May 15 through June 15, 2019 as Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. Tourette Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental condition that develops in early childhood or adolescence. Individuals are affected by tics— involuntary rapid, sudden movements or vocalizations that occur repeatedly in the same way. An estimated 1 in every 360 children 6-17 years of age in the United States have been diagnosed with this neuro-biological genetic condition. Understanding this illness will help guarantee hope for acceptance and a better future for people with Tourette Syndrome. I hope you will join me in sponsorship of this resolution to bring awareness to this often-misunderstood condition. |
