MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 15, 2019 01:09 PM
From: Representative Anita Astorino Kulik
To: All House members
Subject: The Dangers of Ultraviolet Radiation

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. Numbers of skin cancer cases are increasing, mainly due to over-exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Sunlight is the main form of UV radiation, but UV radiation can also be emitted by man-made items, such as welding torches and tanning beds.

Sadly, many people do not take steps to protect their skin from UV radiation and the damages it can cause. To promote education on the dangers of UV radiation and the small steps individuals can take to reduce their risk of developing skin cancer, I will be introducing a resolution designating July 2019 as “Ultraviolet Safety Month” in Pennsylvania.

Please join me in promoting public health and education by supporting this resolution.
