MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 21, 2019 04:26 PM
From: Representative Cris Dush
To: All House members
Subject: Recognizing Nov. 7th as Victims of Communism Memorial Day

I intend to re-introduce a resolution to remember the over 100 million lives lost to the atrocities of communism in the 20th century. November 7, 2017 marked 100 years since the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia.

Communism is based on the philosophy of Karl Marx and has proven to be incompatibly with the ideals of liberty, prosperity, and preserving a societal value of human life.

President Trump declared November 7th as National Day for the Victims of Communism, condemning communism as a political philosophy "incompatible with liberty, prosperity, and preserving the dignity of human life."

Communism makes a false promise of equality, but only delivers human atrocities. Many victims of communism died because of speaking out against their government.

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization authorized by Congress to educate the public of the human rights violations committed in the name of communist philosophy. The Foundation is advocating that state legislatures introduce legislation to remember the victims of communism on November 7th so that we may all pause and remember those who lost their lives.

The Foundation reports that studies consistently reveal that young people do not know the history of communism. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution so that we do not forget the people who died at the hands of communism.
