Subject: | National Prevention Week |
Across this great Commonwealth, we have all seen the impact that substance abuse and mental health issues have had on families and communities. Promoted annually by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, National Prevention Week is a health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of and action around substance abuse and mental health issues. To bring these issues to the forefront in our state, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing May 12-18, 2019, as “National Prevention Week” in Pennsylvania. This weeklong campaign involves local communities, fosters partnerships with federal agencies and national organizations, and promotes quality resource sharing to raise awareness of behavioral and public health issues. Please consider joining me in supporting this resolution and reminding our communities about substance abuse and mental health before summer begins. Thank you. |
