Subject: | #Stop the Clot: Designating March as Deep Vein Thrombosis Month |
I plan to introduce a resolution designating the month of March 2019 as “Deep Vein Thrombosis Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. March is “National Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Awareness Month,” a public health initiative aimed at raising awareness of this commonly occurring medical condition and its potentially fatal complication, pulmonary embolism. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, up to 900,000 Americans are affected annually by DVT, yet, most Americans (74 percent) have little or no awareness of DVT. Therefore, I am introducing this resolution in a continued effort to increase public awareness of DVT and stop fatalities from blood clots throughout the state of Pennsylvania. I hope you will consider co-sponsoring this resolution. Thank you. (Former HR 711 of 2018 by Rep. Tom Murt) |
