Subject: | Elimination of Certain Filing Fees for Delegate to National Convention Legislation |
Every presidential election year, both the Democratic and Republican parties hold national conventions to officially nominate their candidate for president of the United States. Some delegates and alternates are elected by voters on the primary election ballot. These candidates must circulate nominating petitions and pay a $25 filing fee to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Conversely, delegates and alternates selected by the party are not required to circulate petitions or pay a fee. I will be introducing legislation leveling the playing field by amending the Pennsylvania Election Code to eliminate the $25 filing fee for those delegates and alternates who have been elected. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation and let's eliminate a potential financial barrier for those who desire to fully participate in the national conventional process. |
