MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 1, 2019 02:36 PM
From: Representative Rich Irvin
To: All House members
Subject: Robert E. Gensimore Memorial Bridge Legislation

As a General Assembly, we name many bridges and highways over the course of a Session, but this bridge naming is very personal to me. I plan to introduce legislation to honor Robert E. Gensimore. Bob and I grew up together. He was like a brother to me. We were best men in each other’s weddings and shared many great times together in his 45 years on this earth.

Bob was a foreman for Blair District 9 of PennDOT and lost his life in the line of duty on a snowy day on February 17, 2018 when a car struck him while setting up flares. He was not only a dedicated PennDOT employee but served for 27 years as a member of the Warriors Mark-Franklin Volunteer Fire Company. He became a pillar in our community; always going above and beyond to help others in need of emergency response.

This Bill will designate a portion of State Route 453 in Blair County, as the Robert E. Gensimore Memorial Bridge.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this personal and important piece of legislation for the surviving family. Thank you for your consideration.
