MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 1, 2019 01:12 PM
From: Representative Karen Boback
To: All House members
Subject: National Missing Children's Day - May 25, 2019

In the near future I will be introducing a resolution recognizing May 25, 2019 as “National Missing Children’s Day.”

This will be the 36th year since President Reagan proclaimed May 25 as National Missing Children’s Day. Since 1983, the Department of Justice and other organizations have dedicated this day to encouraging caregivers and members of the community with making child safety a priority. This day also serves as a reminder of the children that are missing, and to continue efforts to reunite them with their family.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC), 424,066 children were reported missing in 2018. In Pennsylvania alone, 129 children were reported missing. My resolution would encourage local governments, communities, and law enforcement in the Commonwealth to continue protecting children and educating children about abduction.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
