Subject: | March 2019 as “National Social Work Month” |
Social workers devote their lives to helping individuals who need assistance with social problems and life complications. Social workers play a crucial role in our society and are often the driving force behind important social movements in Pennsylvania, the United States, and abroad. In Pennsylvania, there are over 11,000 licensed social workers creating positive change daily in our communities. That is why I will be introducing a resolution designating March 2019 as “National Social Work Month” in Pennsylvania. This year’s theme for the national celebration is “Elevate Social Work,” which will inform the public about the contributions social workers have made to society, the importance of their work in the United States, and how to improve the compensation of social workers. These compassionate women and men endeavor to make sure everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections and opportunities. Please join me in giving proper recognition to our social workers for the skillful and unselfish work they perform 365 days a year. Your consideration and support is appreciated. |
