MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 14, 2019 03:49 PM
From: Representative Tim Briggs
To: All House members
Subject: Pennsylvania Paid Family Leave Act

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the United States is the ONLY industrialized country without a national parental paid leave requirement. Fortunately for our families, some states are starting to recognize the need to stand with workers and families and require this leave.

While the Family Federal Leave Act (FMLA) provides unpaid leave, many families cannot afford to take unpaid parental leave. Parents should be able to start families without worrying about their next paycheck.

My legislation would establish the Paid Family Leave Act. It would allow eligible employees up to 12 weeks leave at full pay, counted against the FMLA leave for which they are entitled.

Pennsylvania should be the next state to stand firmly on the side of workers and families and require paid parental leave.

Please join me in putting Pennsylvania families first!
