MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 25, 2019 11:39 AM
From: Representative Kurt A. Masser
To: All House members
Subject: Fees Waived for Identification Cards (Former HB 974)

In the near future, I will re-introduce legislation to waive the fee for state identification cards for any individual who received his or her initial identification card free of charge.

Currently, older Pennsylvanians who surrender their driver's license receive an identification card free of charge. However, upon expiration of the identification card, a $28.50 fee is charged per renewal. For individuals on a fixed income, this fee is often burdensome.

This legislation will reduce the cost by eliminating the fee, with the exception of the cost of the photograph, which will be charged by PennDOT.

Please join me in sponsoring this important piece of legislation in order to aid older Pennsylvanian's.

Thank you for your consideration.

Introduced as HB1268
