Subject: | Transparency of Out-of-State PACs |
Out-of-state political action committees, special interests, and corporations should be held to the same standards as everybody else when they engage in political campaigns. I will introduce a legislative proposal intended to shine a light on the unlimited, secretive spending that floods our politics. My proposal would require an “out-of-state” political committee, which is organized for the purpose of supporting or opposing a candidate or ballot question in another state or on the Federal level, and is currently not required to report expenditures under the laws of this Commonwealth, to report all expenditures made in support or in opposition to a candidate or political committee in Pennsylvania. The intent of my bill is to ensure the full disclosure and transparency of expenditures paid by out-of-state political committees to candidates for public office in our state. I believe it is time for us to shield our elections from the influence of special interest groups and malicious actors and put the power back into the hands of the people of this Commonwealth. |
