MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 14, 2019 08:34 AM
From: Representative Maria P. Donatucci
To: All House members
Subject: Prohibiting Sale/Transfer of Vehicle with Suspended Registration/Title

Too often, individuals who have had their vehicle’s registration or title suspended due to the collection of too many tickets will attempt to sell their vehicle to avoid paying restoration fees. This dishonest practice leads to unknowing buyers being stuck with having to pay reinstatement fees. This is wrong.

It is our duty to protect our citizens from deceptive actions like this. As such, I am proposing legislation that would end this practice once and for all by prohibiting the sale or transfer of a vehicle with a suspended registration or title until the entire suspension has been served and all tickets and restoration fees have been paid.

We must take action against these fraudulent transactions. Please join me in co-sponsoring this necessary, commonsense legislative initiative. Thank you for your consideration.
