MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 11, 2019 01:58 PM
From: Representative Frank A. Farry
To: All House members
Subject: Licensure of Electrologists (Prior HB 1862)

In the near future, I will be reintroducing legislation that will amend the Cosmetology Law (Act 86 of 1933) to provide for the licensure of electrologists.

Electrology is the permanent removal of hair through the use of a sterile needle or solid probe combined with an electric current.

Currently, the practice of electrology is not specifically addressed in the Cosmetology Law, and individuals who only practice electrology are not required to be licensed. My legislation would bring electrology under the regulation of the State Board of Cosmetology. It will add electrology to the definition of "cosmetology" and also provide for a limited license for electrologists and electrology salons.

Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation. Thank you for your consideration.
