Subject:	Property Tax Freeze for Older Pennsylvanians

There is no doubt that every member of the General Assembly has heard from older Pennsylvanians struggling to keep their home due to increases in their school property taxes. Many older Pennsylvanians live on a fixed income and live month to month struggling to get by. For decades, we in the General Assembly have struggled and failed to adequately address this pressing issue. It is time to limit the burden of increased school property taxes on older Pennsylvania residents. My proposal is to freeze all school property taxes on the primary residences of older Pennsylvania citizens. The freeze will go into effect during the year in which the individual applying for the freeze turns sixty-five (65). All individuals currently over the age of sixty-five will have their property tax frozen at their current annual amounts. Last session this was HB 460. Please join me in protecting our senior citizens by cosponsoring this important legislation.
