MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 3, 2019 02:42 PM
From: Representative Angel Cruz
To: All House members
Subject: Prohibiting Firearms in the Capitol Complex

Currently, individuals can carry firearms, rifles, and shotguns at anytime in the Capitol Complex. Prohibiting these weapons will provide a safer work environment for staff and elected officials.

My proposal would prohibit individuals, with the exception of law enforcement and security personnel, from carrying firearms, rifles, or shotguns at any time in the Capitol Complex.

My bill would require lockers or similar facilities to be made available, at no charge, for the temporary checking of firearms, rifles, and shotguns by persons lawfully carrying these weapons. The lockers or similar facilities will be made available at or within each building in the Capitol Complex.

By prohibiting firearms in the Capitol Complex, we can provide a safer work environment for our staff and ourselves. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact my Harrisburg office at 717-705-1925.
