Subject: | Co-sponsorship: Criminal Background for Licensees |
I plan to introduce legislation to amend Act 48 of 1993 which addresses all 29 licensing boards under the Bureau of Professional & Occupational Affairs within the Dept. of State. The legislation would reduce the criminal background checks for felony drug offenses for potential licensees from 10 years to 5 years and allow for a probationary license during the 5 year time period. The legislation will also establish a process in which potential licensees may obtain a predetermination of eligibility if the person has a criminal background. This will allow a person to know if their criminal background will preclude them from obtaining licensure prior to incurring the time and cost of education or training. If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please contact Marlene Wilson at 717-787-4032 (6253) or mwilson@pahouse.net. |
