MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 21, 2018 03:47 PM
From: Representative Neal P. Goodman
To: All House members
Subject: Made in PA: Growing and Supporting Manufacturing Jobs

Every day, more than 570,000 Pennsylvanians go to work manufacturing an astounding array of products in this state. Millions more Pennsylvanians go to work moving, storing, and selling these products. We should do everything we can to support these workers and help grow additional manufacturing jobs, and an easy way to do that is to encourage Pennsylvanians to buy Pennsylvania-made products.

My legislation would make it easier for consumers to find and purchase Pennsylvania-made products by creating a Made in PA program at DCED. It would do so through marketing, use of a Made in PA logo, and a publicly-searchable website. It will also feature a business to business component that will help Pennsylvania manufacturers connect with Pennsylvania suppliers. The Made in PA program would complement – not replace - the successful Pennsylvania Preferred program.

Pennsylvanians want to support Pennsylvania companies and their friends, family, and neighbors who work for them. Buying Pennsylvania-made is the most direct way to do that. This legislation was crafted with a bi-partisan group of House members and has the support of both unions and employer groups.
