Subject: | Adding Motorcycles to the Automobile Lemon Law |
Pennsylvania has a history of protecting consumers and ensuring a fair deal. When a Pennsylvania consumer purchases or leases a new automobile, they are protected by the Automobile Lemon Law if the vehicle is faulty. The law requires a manufacturer to fix any default which substantially impairs the use, value or safety of the vehicle, if the problem occurs in the first year of ownership or 12,000 miles. It is time we extend those same protections to consumers purchasing new motorcycles. When a Pennsylvania consumer purchases a new motorcycle, the law offers no protection to the consumer from possible defects or faults. We need to ensure that this investment is safe for the rider and for the motoring public. This is why my legislation will add motorcycles to the definition of a new motor vehicles in the law. I ask for your support and to join me in co-sponsoring this legislation, so we can better protect motorcycle owners and ensure quality and safe motorcycles are on our roadways. |
