| Subject: | Designating September 16 - 22, 2018, as “Direct Support Professionals Week |
| In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating September 16 - 22, 2018, as “Direct Support Professionals Week” in Pennsylvania. As many of you know, direct support professionals and support coordinators help individuals with disabilities work, socialize, and live as independently as possible in their communities. These vital men and women support thousands of individuals and their families across the Commonwealth with a broad range of activities, and enable them to live healthy lives full of opportunity and freedom. The efforts of direct support professionals allow those in need to live with dignity and comfort, and should be lauded. One day is not enough to properly thank our direct support professionals for the skilled and essential work they provide 365 days a year. To that end, I ask that you join me in sponsoring this resolution to recognize and honor the important work these professionals provide for our neediest and most vulnerable citizens. Thank you for your consideration. |
