Subject: | Resolution: October 15th – 19th, 2018 as “CARES Recognition Week” |
In the next few weeks, I will be introducing a resolution to designate the week of October 15th through 19th, 2018 as “CARES Recognition Week” in Pennsylvania. As a state, we are appreciative of the efforts that our 122 agencies have put into actively participating in CARES, or the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival. Not only has the reporting process utilized by CARES cut down on preventable deaths, due to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, but it has allowed Pennsylvania to identify areas of concern across the Commonwealth, through application of proper data reporting and sharing. We must continue to strive towards improvement as a state and provide for enhanced interoperability between our 911 call centers, Emergency Medical Services, and hospital facilities, to improve outcomes related to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest events. My resolution will serve to recognize the continuous work and contributions of these agencies in Pennsylvania and will highlight the success of the CARES program, for increasing the survival rates of those who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, nationwide. Please join me in sponsoring this important resolution. |
