Subject: Pro Bono Week in Pennsylvania
 
This October I plan on introducing a resolution that designates October 21st through 27th as the tenth annual Pro Bono Week in Pennsylvania.

Each year attorneys provide low or no cost legal assistance to over 100,000 low-income clients each year including 10,000 mortgage foreclosure cases and 12,000 domestic violence cases.

Recognizing this week is an opportunity to highlight the differences lawyers make in their communities, to recruit and train more pro bono volunteers and to acknowledge the partnerships that form the basis for many of the private bar's most successful pro bono efforts.

The Pennsylvania Bar Association is joining with the American Bar association to sponsor this October's annual National Pro Bono Week celebration which highlights the good work Pennsylvania attorneys do for the neediest among us.

Please join me in recognizing this very important contribution to Pennsylvania.
