Subject: | Resolution: Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 11-19, 2018) |
In the near future,I will be introducing a Resolution designating the week of November 11 to 19, 2018, as “Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania. With the economic downturn, more and more people who do not fit the stereotype of homelessness are losing their homes. With the decrease in affordable housing and minimum wage not paralleling inflation, more people are fighting to survive and finding themselves below the poverty line. You cannot put effort in fixing problems you do not know are there; fight poverty with knowledge. Food and supplies banks are always in need of donations to ensure they can continue to support individuals and families in need. During the holidays, check with local food and supplies banks before donating toys, gifts or perishable items. Many times they have specific lists from which you can buy to supply local families. If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Tricarico at 717-772-5568 (Democratic extension 6168) or mtricari@pahouse.net Thank you!
