Subject: | Resolution Recognizing May 2018 as “Foster Care Month” |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution that recognizes May 2018 as "Foster Care Month" in Pennsylvania. Children in Foster Care are provided a safe, secure and stable home with compassionate, nurturing and a loving foster family. Right now in Pennsylvania, there are approximately 24,543 children in foster care that receive services through Children & Youth and Dept. of Human Services. On average, children will remain in foster care 11.7 months from their entry into the system. Reunification and adoption remain the two most common reasons for children exiting foster care. The FAMILY is the primary source of love, identity, self-esteem and support. This is our very foundation of our communities in the commonwealth. Please join us in co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
