MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: RESOLUTION - 200th Anniversary of Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21

Colleagues,

In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution that marks the 200th anniversary of the Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21, which held its first meeting in Harrisburg, in April 1818.

In 1818, several Past Masters of Perseverance Lodge No. 21 of Free and Accepted Masons, located in Harrisburg, requested a Warrant of Constitution to form a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons.

The request was granted and Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21 was warranted for the purpose of conferring the degrees of Royal Arch Masonry on good and worthy brethren.

In April 1818, the first meeting of Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 221 was held in Harrisburg.

Since that time, the work of Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21 has continued even in the face of adversity through the anti-Masonic period.

Some of our nation’s greatest patriots, elected officials and dignitaries were members or visitors of the Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21, including the great American Revolutionary War General Marquis de Lafayette.

Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21 has carried out the purpose and goals of Royal Arch Masonry for 200 years, through fraternalism and charitable undertakings.

Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21 is one of the oldest chapters in this Commonwealth.

2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the granting of the Warrant of constitution for Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21.

Please join me in honoring this prestigious and noble organization, its membership and its anniversary.
