Subject: | Resolution Recognizing April 2018 as “Limb Loss Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing April 2018 as “Limb Loss Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Almost 2 million Americans of all ages, races and genders have had amputations and another 28 million Americans are at risk for amputation. Each day, an average of 500 Americans lose a limb. The leading causes of amputation are vascular disease, trauma and cancer. It is a lifetime condition and the general public is largely unaware of the challenges – physically, emotionally and financially – facing amputees and their families. Please consider joining me in helping to raise awareness of the plight faced by those who have lost a limb by recognizing April 2018 as “Limb Loss Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.
