Subject: | Resolution - “Sunshine Week” in Pennsylvania – March 11 – 17, 2018 |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of March 11 through 17, 2018, as “Sunshine Week” in Pennsylvania. “Sunshine Week” was established in 2005 to spark discussion about the importance of open government and public access to government documents and meetings. Since its inception, the American Society of News Editors, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and various participants across the nation have recognized “Sunshine Week” and celebrated its meaning to the community. Please join me in recognizing this non-partisan event, which coincides with James Madison’s birthday, for the purpose of promoting openness and accountability in government. I encourage your consideration and co-sponsorship. Former House Resolution 136 of 2017 - Previous Co-Sponsors: D.
