Subject: | Resolution – Recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Saint Laurence Parish |
Memorandum To: All House Members From: Representative Margo Davidson Date: May 25, 2017 Re: Resolution – Recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Saint Laurence Parish In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Saint Laurence Parish. Saint Laurence Parish was founded on June 10, 1917 and was born into newly suburbanized farmland in Delaware County, just west of Philadelphia. In July of 2013, Saint Alice Parish, Upper Darby, and Saint Laurence Parish, Highland Park, merged to form a new St. Laurence Parish community. In its 100 year history, Saint Laurence Parish has flourished under ten pastors, and as of 2015, serves 5,425 people and 1,934 registered households. Saint Laurence is a Roman Catholic Parish of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia with a rich history that is rooted in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith and the diversity of its cultural backgrounds. They have been leaders in the fight against human trafficking and their intra cultural events has elevated the community. Saint Laurence Parish has been a beacon of faith, hope and love in Upper Darby, Delaware County. They will close their Centennial Year of Celebration on June 4, 2017 with a 100th Birthday Mass followed by a 100th Birthday Banquet, which will be attended by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput. Please consider joining me in recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Saint Laurence Parish. Any questions or concerns please email whaigood@pahouse.net. Thank you |
